While reviewing his security footage, a garage owner in Huddersfield came across a shocking sight. He saw a dog with a broken leg, dragging it around while her other three legs were tightly bound with black football socks.
He immediately contacted the local RSPCA about the dog, later named Susie.
When the officers arrived to rescue her, they discovered that Susie’s condition was worse than expected. She had been starved for weeks, and all her bones were protruding.
To conceal the sores on her skin caused by neglect, her abusers had tied the socks around her limbs. Susie had to be sedated to remove the painful socks, but the veterinarians at Greater Manchester Animal Hospital in Salford took excellent care of her.
Sadly, Susie’s broken leg had healed in the wrong position and needed to be amputated.
She is now recovering from sarcoptic mange and ringworm in isolation, and the vets are hopeful that she will improve. Susie’s previous owners are unknown, and she was not microchipped. She needs to gain weight before the next steps can be taken. Share this story to raise awareness about animal abuse and neglect.
