A stray mother dog had to fend for herself for nearly two years and even gave birth to a litter of puppies during that time. She went to great lengths to keep her pups safe by digging a hole in the ground and burying them, but they were all in dire need of help. Fortunately, Galgos del Sol Animal Rescue came to their rescue.
Initially, the mother dog kept her distance and wouldn’t allow anyone to approach her. So, the rescuers decided to focus on rescuing the puppies first. Though the puppies ran away, they were able to catch the slowest one with a leg problem. The next day, they returned to capture the rest of the puppies, and once they gathered them up in a crate, they placed it in a trap to try and lure the mother in.
However, despite their best efforts, the mother dog refused to enter the trap. So, the rescuers came up with a new plan: to use food as bait to lure her into the trap. Finally, they were able to capture her and reunite her with her puppies at the rescue. They are now staying together until they are ready for adoption, and all of the puppies have found loving forever homes.
Galgos del Sol Animal Rescue has also arranged for a foster home for the sweet mother dog. It’s a job well done by the team, and they have ensured the safety and well-being of this family of dogs.
